Are The General Elections Really Happening This 13 October?

Earlier today, news that the upcoming General Election will be held on 13 October went viral via social messaging apps.

The news includes a short 39-second video clip which shows an officer announcing the date of the election in a room that was cordon off with the official yellow Election Commission (EC) tape.

The EC has issued a statement and denied that 14 General Election will be held on the date mentioned.

An official told The Star that the clip is

actually a “simulation of an election announcement” during a briefing session with staff members that were involved in the GE14.

It is believed that the video was recorded during a briefing and training session in Kelantan last Sunday.
“It's just training, nothing out of the ordinary as we have been conducting these sessions routinely and in stages in each state,” the official told the English daily.
The viral video has caused mass-confusion towards Malaysians as many had believed the announcement to be genuine.
Well folks, until you hear any official news from the government or the EC, it’s best not to believe any rumours or news you receive no matter how legit it may sound.
